At Oyster Bay golf course in Sunset Beach, the historic and strategic philosophies of golf course architecture come together harmoniously. Golf Digest ranked this course among the top-50 public courses in the country and has also been named "Resort Course of the Year."
Innovation and variety distinguish this course by golf course architect Dan Maples and developer Larry Young. A wide variety of shot making requirements are needed to overcome this course with its combination of short holes, long holes, striking fresh water lakes, two island green par threes, and severe holes surrounded by dense marshland. Although this course is a par-70 and just under 6,700 yards, drastically undulating greens, lengthy par-4's, and steep bunkers ensure that Oyster Bay tests a golfer's skills!

we were really looking forward to playing this course, just from what we were told from others that had been there. but it didn't match up to the others that we played that week.
Winter grass growing in made fairways seem as bad as rough. We were never told we would have these conditions. Pace of play was fine until we reached tenth tee where they put three foursomes out ahead of us on the tenth hole. not happy. pace was at a crawl from that point on. took twice as long to play back as it did the front
Great shape...Gorgeous views...A few alligators...No complaints
A VERY picturesque & enjoyable course. Fair & challenging. I really enjoy playing this course....and now that it's part of the Legends group - you can't beat the breakfast, lunch and 2 drink deal! HIGHLY Recommended!
nice course but condition of fairways would make me think twice before playing there again
We played Oyster Bay on 4/27/14. The course was in pristine shape - azaleas blooming, and fairways and greens in top shape. It was a pure joy to play this course. We will be back.
Great course. Bring your "A" game to play this tight course with a lot of fun holes. You won't be disappointed for playing this one.
Course is in great shape and loved it.
Love this course. Although restricted to cart paths due to previous nights rain, the group did enjoy this course.Wish they could do something about the gnat problem.Saw about 10 gators
Very nice course but we were pushed all day by the marshall Course to crowd
Course itself is a nice layout, very picturesque. Biggest complaint is number of gators, a bit disturbing for me. Never bothered us, just disturbing.
disappointed in conditions greens in tough shape t-boxes beat up will not go there again
disappointed used to be in great shape greens rough tee boxes rough staff friendly
We love to fit this course into our package. The course is always in great shape and the views are amazing. Always fun to count the gators and lost balls not retrieved!
Great views and a good test of shot placement. Not overly long, but greens undulate.
Very good course with lots of change up and variety. Always see gators on this one . Play it you will like it.
nice shape
Oyster Bay. It was in good shape tee to green, nothing major to report although the greens were pretty slow. They were in good shape, just slow ... no big deal. While they started us on the back and we did wait for the group in front of us, we still played in under 4 1/2. Always like OB but as this is our 4th time playing, we'll probably look for something else in the area next time.
Played Oyster Bay on Friday April 29th based on many recommendations from friends that had played the course years ago. unfortunately, the course turned out to be my biggest disappointment in my 16 years of playing Myrtle Beach golf courses. The fairways and greens were in awful shape and it took us over 5 1/2 hours to play and the rangers did nothing to try to speed the play but rather asked us to be patient. We have played courses at half the price of Oyster Bay that were in much better shape and played in reasonable time. To make matters worse with all the waiting, the beverage cart did not appear until we reached the 14th hole. Oyster Bay was truly an awful and disappointing experience and would not recommend the course to my worst enemy.
Played there March 25,2011. Course was not in good shape. Farways were like playing on hardpan without much grass. Had to move my ball to find piece of grass. Around five greens had damage. Greatly disappointed. Paid $55 with lunch and two beers. Played Manowar,Heather Glen, Shaftsbury Glen and Crow Creek that were in great shape compared to Oyster Bay.
