One of the East Coast's strongest challenges! Legends Moorland, a par-72 golf course designed by golf architect P.B. Dye, opened in 1990 and earned a "Top 10 New Courses" rating from Golf Digest. This course is reminiscent of the PGA West Stadium Course, due to its blukheaded areas, extraordinary undulations, waste areas, and large stretches of sand and water. This course has incredible terrain highs and low bunkers, requiring massive skill and luck. Play this challenging course and learn why the green guarding the 16th hole is called "Hell's Half Acre!"

If it’s relaxation you are after, then THESE are the Myrtle Beach golf courses you need to check out. The most quiet and peaceful courses in the area.
The Valentine’s Day Massacre at the Dye Club once again lived up to its reputation. Check out my first hand look as a player.
they were in good shape for the weather we had . never a bad time on these tracks
Should not miss this one
Great course and in great condition. The only issue is the pace of play, they should drop 4 to 5 foursomes per day to help speed up play. Plan on 5 1/2 hours.
Toughest of the Legends Courses. You absolutely have to play this course to appreciate.
A VERY picturesque & enjoyable course....but you WILL need you 'A' game. Plenty of trouble to be found if your swing isn't 'on'. Challenging for almost everyone. Hell's Half Acre is on of my favorite holes in all of MB! An easy drive from anywhere on the Strand. HIGHLY Recommended!
same for all three courses. looking forward to next year
Our guys enjoyed this course the most. We played three other Legend courses during the week and this one was by far their favorite. Very challenging but loads of fun. Definitely will be back next year.
Played all three of the Legends courses from 4/25-4/27. The courses were in excellent shape. Organization was good at the starting areas. My only gripe was the pace of play, which exceeded 5 hours on each course. There were rangers on the course who said they were trying to maintain the pace of play, but my observations suggested otherwise. The group in front of us lost pace during one of the rounds, and nothing was done to move them along. This is especially a problem if you are trying to play 36 holes in a day. Our hope for a relatively leisurely lunch in between rounds (we should have had close to two hours if the 4:15 pace of play was enforced) turned into a rushed inhalation of a hot dog on the way to the first tee of the second round.
The Legend - Moorland course was in excellent shape. The inclusion of breakfast, lunch and two beverages was a motivation as well. Some of the group found the course a little difficult for their handicap level
Great Layout, super fast greens, Fairways are terrible, we heard it was an overseeding gon terribly wrong, like playing off concrete everyhole all fairways.
The golf course itself was ok. The rest of the experience was dreadful. The rangers are absolutely clueless ... telling you are a hole behind when you just spent 8 1/2 holes waiting on every shot. Rounds were WAY too long. 5 hours plus is a little excessive. Will NEVER EVER go back to the Legends. Its now a golf factory getting as many people out on 9 holes as possible.
Pete Dye courses will either make you rise to the challenge or eat you up. I have played this course twice and for some reason, I have played well here both times carding an 81 and a 75. Maybe because with all the trouble out there, you have to concentrate on every shot and you cannot swing out of your shoes. Whatever it is, be sure to bring your "A" game to Moorland.
great shape nice greens
Nice facility, wonderful course. Was completely unprepared for the pace of play we encountered. Didn't expect a 5 1/2 hour round. Nice day and complimentary drinks after the round eased the pain.
Course is very challenging and fair. Big greens. Been playing it for 11 years in a row everytime we come back. Only drawback is that soemtimes they overbook and its crowded, but as far as the course itself, love it!
Moorelands. Played here back in '94 (I believe) and thought it was great. Tee to green it still a really good course but like Heathlands, they booked both sides. On this one we were again the first ones out but this time got pushed by the group behind us and ended up playing the front in about 1 3/4 hours ... which on most any other course would be great, except for the fact that we now had over a half-hour wait (actually had time to go into the club house and have breakfast). Once we tee'd off on 10 we were now waiting ... a lot ... on every shot, while also getting pushed by the group in back of us. It was getting close to exchanging words because no one was going anywhere but they kept yelling back from the t-box, waving their hands and ....... you know how it goes. That kind of took away from the fun of the day. All in all it's still a good challenging course. If you go to the Legends with the understanding that it's a "golf factory" and they'll get as many greens fees as they can during the course of the day then you'll be OK. However when THEY were the ones that booked our times, especially the 7:00 at Heathland/1:00 at Heritage (which is a 45 minute drive from one to the other) they should really cut back on the morning times going out the back or make sure things are moving along.
The Moorland Course at the Legends Resort was voted #37 Toughest Golf Course in the Country.
May of 2010 my father and our friends stayed and played all three of the on property courses of the Legends. The accomodations were spectacular and the courses were better. Highly recommended for any play level.
Played Moorland on Weds 11/3/10 and the golf course was in EXCELLENT shape. Greens were quick and looked as good as they rolled. The over seed on the fairways is coming in great. The Legends Moorland is not an easy golf course, so make sure you play from the correct tees!
