Ron Garl is often called The Renaissance Man of Golf Architecture. The reason is that when he builds golf courses, he is involved in every aspect of the course design, and unlike many golf architects, he is not afraid to get his hands dirty either.

It is for this skill and commitment to excellent that Garl has been awarded numerous design awards as well as Golf Designer of the Year Award by International Network of Golf, throughout his career. With a Bachelor of Science from the University of Golf with a specialization in turf grasses, he is considered an authority of golf architecture.

With a unique standard for being environmentally-friendly with his golf designs, Garl works hard to create a course that enhances and even increases the natural characteristics of the land. It has received several awards, including being named South Carolina's "Golf Course of the Year 2000" and having been voted the "Best New Public Course 1996" by Golf Digest. In addition, it was also named "Top Fairways 1998" by Golf For Women
